The choice of color for clothing is unique to each person : there are specific colors depending on your skin tone, the color of your eyes and your hair.

A quick and easy definition of colorimetry

When we talk about colorimetry , we talk about colors . This is one of the tools used by Stéphanie, a Gualap image consultant. Indeed, she studies the color palette based on a person's natural harmony . The goal? To find the right balance between colors and your natural beauty!

The choice of color has an impact on two things : physical and psychological . Choosing one color over another can create a "sparkling" effect, as well as a "slimming" effect. Be careful, sometimes the wrong choice of color can cause a bad complexion. This is why the choice of colors is of paramount importance when you are shopping.

Each color has a different effect on our emotions and how we act . For example, yellow is a cheerful and lively color. It represents energy and plays on good humor.

To distinguish colors more quickly, two categories were created: warm colors and cool colors. What is the difference between the two?

Warm colors and cool colors

Warm colors

Warm colors mean warmth and sunshine . Warm colors are those that include yellow in the composition.

Cool colors

Conversely, all colors that do not contain yellow are called “cool.” In principle, cool colors contain some blue.

We cannot create an exact color list. However, each color family has different tones that tend towards cool or warm colors . For example, in the pink family, old rose is a warm color, whereas in the blue family, navy blue is a cool color.

The different types of harmony

To combine colors, there are different techniques, called harmony. In fact, a harmony is a combination of colors that go “well” together. To find the best harmonies, we use the color wheel , that is, a color wheel .

colorimetry

There are four distinct harmonies: monochrome harmony, complementary harmony, camaieu harmony, and equilateral harmony. Do you know the difference between the four? We'll tell you everything!

Monochrome harmony

As the name suggests, monochrome means a single color . This color can be varied in varying degrees, from light to dark. Wearing monochrome clothing can elongate and slim the silhouette.

Harmony of complementary colors

Complementary harmony is composed of two colors that are opposite each other on the color wheel . For example, wearing blue pants and a yellow shirt. The main purpose of this harmony is to draw the eye to the strong points of your body.

Shaded harmony

The monochrome harmony offers shades of colors that are very close in the color wheel , such as red and orange. This harmony brings a lot of softness and elegance to your style.

Equilateral harmony

In this harmony, we find 3 colors located on either side . They allow you to give pep to your silhouette.

Tip: Don't hesitate to regularly consult the color wheel so you can see at a glance which colors go best together in your outfit. With this method, you're sure to be elegant every day and avoid fashion faux pas! :')
