Summer is the season of anything and everything. Between vacations and the heat, we want to indulge in all sorts of eccentricities. If you're feeling like stepping out of your comfort zone and having fun with your clothes, this is the time. But be careful not to fall into over-the-top or vulgarity.

To look your best this summer, we'll reveal our 5 fashion faux pas to absolutely avoid.

1 - Choosing the wrong fabrics

With the heat, the beach and the pool, forget about very thick or synthetic fabrics that don't let air circulate. You may sweat profusely and feel uncomfortable all day long.

Thick fabrics, such as denim or velvet, and synthetic materials such as polyester and nylon, tend to trap heat and prevent air from circulating. In summer, these materials can quickly become uncomfortable or even stifling:

- They make you sweat: Synthetic fabrics have low moisture absorption capacity, which means that sweat stays on your skin and creates an unpleasant feeling of dampness.

- They can cause skin irritation: Heat combined with perspiration can cause irritation and itching, especially if the fabric is rough or non-breathable.

To avoid these minor inconveniences, we recommend opting for natural and lightweight materials. For example:

    - Cotton: Cotton is a summer classic. Ultra timeless, it never goes out of style. It's lightweight, soft, breathable, and allows air to circulate to keep skin dry. Plus, it's hypoallergenic and suitable for even the most sensitive skin. If you find your skin itchy and irritated easily due to sea salt and the sun, this is the material for you!

    - Linen: Linen is known for its ability to regulate body temperature. It's incredibly light and airy, making it a perfect choice for warmer days. Linen also dries quickly, which is very practical if you're planning water sports or beach trips.

    - Silk: Silk is not only elegant but also extremely comfortable on the hottest days. It's lightweight, soft to the touch, and has thermoregulating properties that help keep your body cool. Instead of wearing viscose, which is a synthetic material, we recommend silk, a natural material.

2 - Wearing colors that are too dark

Although black is an elegant color by definition, it's best avoided in summer. Black, like all dark colors, absorbs more heat than light colors, which can make your summer outfits not only too warm, but also unsuitable for the light-hearted spirit of the season.

Additionally, dark hues can feel heavy and less vibrant, which clashes with the bright, cheerful vibe of summer.

Here's what to replace them with:

      - Instead of wearing black - wear gray

      - Instead of wearing navy blue - wear pastel blue or sky blue

      - Instead of wearing brown - wear beige or cream

      - Instead of wearing burgundy - wear coral or pink

      - Instead of wearing fir green - wear mint , electric or pastel green

Bright and soft shades are therefore perfect for summer!

3 - Wearing too many colors

Although summer is all about cheerfulness and color, it's important not to overdo it. Limit yourself to a maximum of three colors in your outfit to avoid the "clown" effect. Pair your clothes using the complementary technique, or mix neutral tones with bright colors to contrast and soften.

For pairing ideas, you could try:

      - Pink with beige and green

      - Blue with purple and white

      - Orange with beige and red

      - Green with lilac and gray

This is your chance to have fun, but with only 3 colors ;)

      4 - Over-accessorize

To compensate for the lack of clothing, there's no need to overdo it with accessories. Too many accessories can create an overloaded and anything but elegant effect.

Additionally, wearing too many accessories, especially in hot weather, can become uncomfortable. Necklaces, bracelets, and other items can stick to the skin and increase the feeling of heat.

Conversely, we recommend choosing only a few, such as 1 hat + 1 pair of glasses + 1 bracelet or 1 anklet + 1 pair of glasses + 1 bracelet. If you want to maximize your bracelets, we also recommend wearing them in odd numbers.

Above all, think about your comfort, it’s the key in summer!

5 - Wear your beach clothes in town

Swimsuits and sarongs are perfect for the beach, but they're not necessarily suitable for a stroll around town. If you still want to transform your swimsuit into a daytime outfit, here are some tips for incorporating it into your outfit:

      - Play with transparency: Nothing like letting the top of your bikini show through under a transparent or crochet top.

      - Transform your pareo into a top: Fold your pareo so that it covers your upper body. It will make a magnificent sleeveless top for the hottest days!

With all these tips, no more over-the-top or old-fashioned looks that don't last. You'll always be elegant and, above all, comfortable :)
